DON’T MISS THESE UPCOMING DEADLINES
Stay On Top of These Dates to Stay Compliant
Staying on top of all the filing deadlines and reporting dates can be difficult. Even the most organized employer can miss a deadline. Missing filing deadlines and reporting dates can result in adverse consequences for the employer.
To ensure you remain in compliance, Nevada Association of Employers has compiled a list of upcoming deadlines that Nevada employers should be aware of. Don’t be caught off guard; prepare for these deadlines now.
OSHA 300-A Posting Period
Employers that are required to keep OSHA Form 300 (Log of Work-Related Injuries and Illnesses) must post OSHA Form 300A (Summary of Work-Related Injuries and Illnesses) in a workplace common area by February 1st. The posting must remain up through April 30th.
OSHA Form 300A provides a summary of all fatalities, missed workdays, job transfers and restrictions, and job-related injuries and illnesses from the prior calendar year. OSHA Form 300A must be completed and posted even if no work-related injuries or illnesses occurred during the year.
New Income Tax Withholding Tables
As we advised you earlier this month, employers must begin using the 2018 withholding tables as soon as possible, but no later than February 15, 2018.
The updated withholding information reflects the changes made by recent tax reform legislation, including new rates for employers to use during 2018, increase in the standard deduction, repeal of personal exemptions and changes in tax rates and income brackets.
The IRS is working on revising the W-4, but the new form is not anticipated until later this year. Employers can continue to use the 2017 Form W-4 until the new Form W-4 is released.
E-Verify Records
E-Verify employers that want to retain older E-Verify records have until February 28, 2018 to download case information dated on or before December 31, 2007. On March 1, 2018, all data that is over 10 years old will be deleted.
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) disposes of data that is more than 10 years old on an annual basis. The data purge is conducted to comply with the National Archives and Records Administration’s retention and disposal schedule to minimize security and privacy risks associated with retaining personally identifiable information.
EEO-1 Report
The Employer Information Report EEO-1 must be filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission no later than March 31, 2018. While the 2017 EEO-1 Report will not collect data on pay and hours worked, it will collect data on race, ethnicity, and sex of workers by job category. Private employers with 100 or more employees and federal contractors with 50 or more employees and $50,000 in contracts must file the EEO-1 Report.
