REMSA TO HOST BLEEDING CONTROL CLASS FOR THE COMMUNITY
Learn a new live-saving skill in 2019 and receive a free bleeding control kit
The Regional Emergency Medical Services Authority (REMSA) will host its first bleeding control class of 2019, Stop the Bleed, on Friday, January 18 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Bleeding Control for the Injured (B-Con) educates community members on how to perform immediate and basic lifesaving interventions prior to receiving definitive medical care.
“Knowing how to assess and control bleeding on the scene can mean the difference between life and death,” said Cindy Green, education manager for REMSA. “Bleeding control is a critical skill that anyone can be trained in. This course, just like a CPR class, can help us all be a little more prepared for emergency situations.”
After attending the class, students will have learned how to manage life-threatening blood loss through the use of tourniquet application, wound packing and hemostatic dressings. This course does not require any prior medical experience and is suited for those that want to be educated on what to do during any potential traumatic incident.

This class is open to all participants; space is limited and registration is first-come, first served. All participants will receive a free bleeding control kit.
B-Con is just one of many education classes including CPR, AED, First Aid and babysitting courses taught by experienced REMSA educators specifically tailored for community members. As part of its commitment to the community, in 2018, REMSA offered more than 3,500 classes and educated more than 20,400 students.
REMSA uses a curriculum intended to build national resilience by preparing the public to save lives by raising awareness about how to stop bleeding following everyday emergencies, and man-made and natural disasters.
